The only mention regarding the pen feature is in the CRU list (Customer Replaceable Unit) on p.22. The hardware maintenance manual is applicable to both models and it doesn't mention anything about the pen function, as in the need to have extra hardware installed.
It may be that the pen feature is available in both models as long as they had the appropriate LCD module installed in the first place. It seems that is not a given that all 82AT models have the feature.
(Click on Select Commodity > LCD Assemblies). Looking at the parts list for a 82HK and a 82AT it seems that they both share the same LCD modules, as the spare part numbers for the 2 LCD modules available for both laptop models are identical. Have you tried installing the Lenovo Pen Settings driver and check what it shows, you didn't say? Perhaps changing the LCD module may not be necessary.
